Luxottica Group is the world’s leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of prescription frames and sunglasses in the premium and luxury eye-wear markets. Luxottica, required a turnkey solution to design and construct their Los Angeles, California high-rise showroom, including: Design, architectural and engineering, custom Italian kitchen design and fabrication, appliance procurement, sound system / multimedia design and installation, general contracting, and permitting and variances. As the project lead, I was responsible for managing and budgeting all aspects of the program. I personally designed the Italian style kitchen and sound system. The management of the architectural and engineering in the infancy stage of this project was essential to meeting the client’s needs. Dealing with the Luxottica Headquarters in Italy, the task to bring this project from concept to completion entailed not only meeting the requirements set forth by the client, but also working with union contractors, high-rise construction, interfacing with city officials and the building departments, managing all manufacturers and vendors, shipping schedules, and change orders.
