Funhouse Funny Money Ad Flyers

Funhouse Tattoo of San Diego needed a creative upgrade to their existing funny money that offered their clients discounted tattoo services. I scanned a real $20 bill and implemented the Funhouse Mascot as the president on the face of the bill. The challenge was to implement all of the components of the real $20 bill, while adding all of the client’s requirements and still abiding by the “rules of use” mandated by the federal government.

“This bi-monthly publication reports on the design, construction and facilities operations of major commercial construction segments, including retail, hospitality, restaurant, education, corrections and more. The content is designed to meet the information needs of high-level executives, especially the collaborative management process needed to complete projects on time and on budget, and to manage these facilities efficiently.” (Commercial Construction Magazine Website)

Creating a captivating, cost effective advertisement was the end-goal for this project. As well as being the jumper in the ad, I created the concept, budgeted and managed the photography and photo shoot, and designed the advertisement for what was then “Retail Construction Magazine.”

Strategically aligning a business with advertising partners that will generate a quantifiable ROI is the difficult part of advertising. Return On Investments are quite often mistakenly viewed only in terms of financial results. While sales are obviously important to the viability of a business, so is the brand recognition that is associated with a company through effective design and advertising mediums. Below are magazine advertisements that I designed which satisfied the ROI requirements that were forecasted prior to choosing our print advertising partners.

Apex BASE DPx Advertising

Apex BASE, the original BASE jumping specific equipment manufacturer required a print advertisement to be built for Skydiving Magazine as well as a product “one-sheet” to showcase their new harness and container system catering to back-country base jumping. The integration of the back pack with the BASE system allows for the elimination of carrying multiple bags into the back-country. Tents, sleeping bags, boots, clothes and even food can be simultaneously stored inside of the backpack while your parachute is packed inside of the container. The rig can be jumped expanded with everything inside of it, or compressed into that of a normal size BASE container when all items are removed from the backpack.

Finding the perfect location for the photo shoot came easily as I already had planned a trip to Norway to jump some of the epic cliffs seen in many of today’s BASE Jumping videos. Armed with my Cannon EOS 20D and an assortment of lenses, I was able to achieve Apex’s desired product shots on the first day.
